Surrounding AreaSt. Augustine has a lot to offer from a number of wonderful restaurants and historic sites to activities like golf and skateboarding. Restaurants in and around St. AugustineWe love Caps. A few blocks away from us they serve an eclectic seafood menu which can be had inside or outside on porches overlooking the Intercoastal Waterway. If you go for dinner, be sure to arrange it so the sun sets while you eat.
A few other of our favorite restaurants in the area are listed here. The Raintree is an award winning restaurant that is on the way to downtown St. Augustine. Fiddler's Green offers good seafood overlooking the Atlantic at the sout end of Vilano beach (just after the new bridge on your left). If you like Spanish food, Columbia House in the historic section of town is unbelievably good. There are many excellent restaurants in and around the St. Augustine and Vilano beach area. Use the St. Augustine Restaurant Times to help you make decisions. Site-seeing in the St. Augustine areaWe love wandering through historic downtown St. Augustine. There are all kinds of shops including antiques and many art galleries in this old city. While we are downtown, invariably, we will walk over to the Castillo de San Marcos, a magnificent and well restored fort. You might also arrange for a carriage tour of downtown or for a Schooner tour of the area.
Outside of downtown you might want to visit Guana River State Park that lies just a few miles north on A1A. Golf and other activities near St. AugustineThe golfing is particularly noteworthy here. There is no doubt that St. Augustine offers very fine golfing, whether at Sawgrass TPC up the road in Ponte Vedra or the World Golf Village just a few miles away on Interstate 95 as well as many other courses in the area. The Robert-Laryn Skate Park is also a short distance away. |
